Cherry Creek Schools Board of Education members learned during the regular board meeting on April 15 that there is widespread support for a proposed calendar change that would start and end the school year earlier, beginning in the 2015-2016 school year.

Eric Flor, Assistant Superintendent for Educational Operations, presented the results of a survey of parents, staff and students, conducted in February 2013. More than 4,000 people responded to the survey, and 79.3% were in favor of the change, which would allow high school students to take finals before winter break, and provide more teaching time in the spring semester before AP and other major tests.

The Board of Education will make a decision on the proposal this fall.
