Parent Exemption from State Assessments

CMAS logo

Dear Parent or Guardian,

During the 2015 legislative session, lawmakers passed SB 15-223 which gives parents the right to refuse to have their children take the state standardized tests CMAS, PARCC and the PSAT/SAT without any negative consequences to the student, teacher or school.

The Cherry Creek School District has created a form for parents which can be found on the district's website.

If you will be exempting your student from testing, please complete this form at least two weeks prior to testing so that the school can develop its assessment schedule.

The new law only applies to the state mandated tests CMAS and PARCC and the PSAT/SAT and does not apply to other tests given in the classroom as part of the course work.

For additional information, please visit our website. Please contact the principal at your child's school if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Dr. Harry Bull

Superintendent

Cherry Creek School District
