The ongoing high quality performance level of every teacher is key to improving student achievement. This belief is the rationale for the Cherry Creek School District’s S.T.A.R. Mentor Program. The concept of this peer assistance program originated while negotiating with the Cherry Creek Education Association in 1994.
S.T.A.R. Mentors are master teachers with a wealth of experience to help those new to the profession. Full-time released teachers act as mentors to all first year teachers with no prior teaching experience.
The S.T.A.R. Program enhances the potential for student achievement through a strong support system for beginning teachers through weekly observations and consultations. It also provides support for experienced teachers who are in need of improvement and assists in the process of instructional improvement.
The Cherry Creek School District and the Cherry Creek Education Association believe in helping both teachers and students succeed!
